First introduced in 2017, the Smokehouse Chicken has established itself as a seasonal staple for the brand. Each portion features a half chicken marinated for 12 hours, hand-rubbed with seasonings, and fried to achieve a distinct Texas-style profile. The meal includes a signature Honey-Butter Biscuit and a jalapeño pepper, maintaining the traditional configuration that drove its initial popularity.
Church's Texas Chicken Reintroduces Smokehouse Lineup
Starting at $5.99, Church's Texas Chicken is bringing back its popular Smokehouse Chicken for a limited time, marking the return of the bone-in, unbreaded meal. This year’s rollout expands the menu beyond the original and spicy versions by adding a new lemon pepper dry rub option.
The addition of the lemon pepper variety combines citrus notes with cracked black pepper, providing a departure from the classic savory rub. Chief Executive Officer Roland Gonzalez noted that the company aims to leverage the established demand for the product while offering a fresh flavor profile to entice returning customers. The items are available now at participating locations nationwide.
