The donation aims to alleviate the mounting financial pressure on households navigating specialized care for their children. Administered by the Akron Children's Foundation, the funds are earmarked for eligible local families facing hardship, ensuring that medical costs do not become a barrier to receiving treatment.

Shelly Brown, executive director of the Akron Children's Foundation, noted that the grant aligns with the hospital's long-standing promise to provide care regardless of a family's financial circumstances. For Liberty HealthShare, based in Canton, the initiative represents an expansion of its charitable mission beyond its core membership. CEO Dorsey Morrow stated that the partnership reflects a commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the broader Northeast Ohio community. These funds, generated through distinct charitable grants, will be managed exclusively by the hospital to assist patients in the designated counties.
