The9 Reports Record Half-Year Profit Driven by AI and Token Assets

The9 Limited posted a net income of US$32 million for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 39% sequential increase and the company's highest half-year profit since its 2004 initial public offering. This financial momentum stems largely from the valuation of 9BIT tokens integrated into its AI-driven gaming ecosystem.

The company’s total net income for the first half of the year reached US$55 million, a surge primarily attributed to the fair-value recognition of 475 million 9BIT tokens received during the quarter. These assets are part of a cooperation agreement with the Panama-based 9BIT Foundation. Currently, The9 holds 1.9 billion 9BIT tokens and 347 BTC, with a combined market value estimated at approximately US$120 million.

Beyond financial gains, the firm is scaling its flagship platform, the9bit, which now hosts over 180,000 games generated through proprietary AI tools. CEO George Lai described the platform as an AI-native production operating system that uses a model-agnostic layer to coordinate development workflows. To drive further adoption, The9 has secured 41 brand partnerships and is expanding marketing efforts across Southeast Asia, with plans to target markets in the Americas and Europe.

Investment activities also reached a milestone as Nanyang Biologics, an AI-driven drug discovery firm in which The9 holds a stake, moved closer to a Nasdaq listing following shareholder approval for a business combination with RF Acquisition Corp II. As part of its internal performance incentives, The9’s board confirmed that the second-quarter results successfully triggered growth-based equity awards for senior management, which remain subject to multi-year vesting requirements.
