Traditional payroll systems were designed for static headcounts, leaving companies that rely on a mix of staff and external talent to juggle multiple platforms. This disconnect creates significant bottlenecks in onboarding, compliance, and audit tracking. Wingspan addresses these inefficiencies by funneling disparate worker types—including W-2 employees, contractors, and even AI workers—through a single compliance engine.
Wingspan Consolidates W-2 and Contractor Payroll in New Beta Launch
Operating across a fragmented landscape of clinicians, technicians, and independent agents, businesses often struggle with disconnected software stacks. Wingspan is moving to solve this by launching a beta platform that unifies W-2 payroll with domestic and international contractor management, aiming to eliminate the administrative silos currently hindering flexible workforce operations.

The platform's utility is already being tested by large-scale organizations. One staffing firm successfully reclassified 1,000 contractors while automating hundreds of hours of manual labor, while a healthcare client integrated a W-2 entity to manage 30,000 nurses without needing a secondary provider. The current beta release serves U.S. employers, with specialized S-corporation payroll features scheduled for a September 9, 2026, rollout ahead of a broader general release on September 24.
