The game arrives following the success of Conradical’s previous title, Desktop Defender, which gained significant traction during Steam Next Fest and maintains a Very Positive rating. Designed to be unobtrusive, the new title allows users to resize and reposition the window, offering a mix of passive progression and active decision-making. Players earn experience, hunt for over 200 pieces of loot, and utilize an ascension system to unlock permanent upgrades. Every fifth case culminates in an interrogation, featuring randomized ghost characters and dialogue designed to mimic the boss-fight intensity of the studio's earlier work.
Desktop Detective Brings Idle RPG Investigations to Your Screen Corner
A spectral investigator is now patrolling the edge of your monitor. Developer Conradical Games and publisher Playsaurus released Desktop Detective today on Steam, an idle RPG that functions alongside your primary tasks by allowing players to solve crimes and collect gear while they work, browse, or game in other windows.

Founder Conrad Grindheim noted that the ghost detective theme provides a cozy, unobtrusive framework while supporting deep progression for those who enjoy optimizing builds. The game supports eight languages, Steam achievements, and cloud saves, with full progress portability from the previously released demo. Playsaurus CEO Austin Oblouk added that the title aims to justify its presence on the screen by layering a complex RPG system underneath its idle core. Desktop Detective is available now for $4.99, featuring a 15% discount for the first two weeks.
